Yuri Kubo

Yuri Kubo

Position Title
Undergraduate Research Assistant | Center for Neuroscience

Bio

Yuri is currently a third year student at the University of California, Davis, is pursuing a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. His academic interests focuses on delving into the intricate field of neuroscience with the aim of forging a career in biotech or biomedical research related to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, which affect the motor cortex. His goal is to develop a mechanism for reversing brain aging in hopes to prevent age related cognitive deficits.

In addition to his career aspirations, Yuri possesses perfect pitch—an innate ability to identify a given musical note without the benefit of a reference tone. This unique skill has sparked his interest in joining Dr. Recanzone's lab, which focuses on the auditory cortex and examines our capacity for sound discrimination tasks. Perhaps Dr. Recanzone can uncover what makes Yuri's brain special in terms of auditory performance? Let's find out.
